Yes, it’s happened again. Apple’s Messaging app has forgotten that I have been connected all day. Now it wants me to sign in. So, like a good boy, I enter the necessary things, then watch the app sit. And sit. And keep sitting. Typically the only way to make the app work again is to (shades of Windows) reboot.
